  • What is the cost for the conference?
    The Early Bird Package for 4+ days is $550.00 (plus tax) and includes admission to the pre-conference workshops, the main conference events, and the post conference dialogues. (Tickets for the Celebratory Dinner on Friday, August 18th are sold separately.) Once the Early Bird tickets are gone, the price for the conference and workshops will be $690.00 (before tax).
  • When will the conference take place?
    The overall conference will be held August 16 to 20, 2023.
  • Where will the conference events be held?
    The pre-conference workshops (August 16-17) and the post conference dialogues (August 20) will be held on the seventh floor of the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Social Work, 2500 University Drive NW, MacKimmie Tower (MT), Calgary. The main conference events (August 18-19) including plenaries, brief papers, a celebration dinner and collective gatherings, will be held at the Best Western Village Park Inn located at 1804 Crowchild Trail NW, Calgary.
  • Who will be presenting at the conference?
    This conference will be featuring more than 30 speakers, both locally and internationally renowned. The lineup of presenters is extraordinary! You can find the conference presenters and their bios by clicking on this link https://www.familytherapy.org/conference.
  • Can I submit a paper?
    Yes. Any potential participant for the two-day conference is welcome to submit a proposal for the ‘Brief Papers’ component of the main conference. To present a paper, the speakers are required to register for the conference. (Co-authors do not need to be present and do not need to register.)   • Are meals included with my registration?
    During the main conference (August 18 – 19), participants will receive a complimentary lunch as well as refreshments during breaks. On the two workshop days (August 16 – 17) and the post-conference dialogues, participants are welcome to explore non-complimentary snacks and/or meals at various local cuisine venues, including the University food court.
  • Where do out of town guests stay?
    The venue for the main conference, The Best Western Village Park Inn is offering conference participants a limited number of rooms at a special group rate starting at $129.00/night. To obtain this group rate, please advise the hotel reservations clerk that you’re a CFTC Conference participant. There are several other hotels located in the vicinity of the conference too. Please visit the Accommodations tab on the Conference website for more information.
  • Is there parking available and where?
    Visitor parking at the University is available in Lots 10, 11 and 32 for $9/day and in the Arts Parkade for $11/day. During the main conference (August 18 and 19), parking will be free on the surface level of the Best Western Village Park Inn, located at 1804 Crowchild Trail, NW Calgary. These parking spots are accessible on a first come basis. Participants can also park for $5/day at McMahon Stadium. An alternative to parking is to use Calgary Transit. Both the Village Park Inn and the University of Calgary are extremely accessible by the LRT. The Village Park Inn is a six minute walk from the Banff Trail Station (https://goo.gl/maps/XbQPYnUG1d4XCCaS7), and the University of Calgary has its own train station, an approximate six minute walk from the MacKimmie Tower (location of the Pre-Conference Workshops).
  • Will there be a celebration dinner?
    Yes. A celebration dinner will be held on Friday, August 18th at the Best Western Village Park Inn. The cost for a dinner ticket is $75.00.
  • Is the conference being live streamed?
    No, but there will be two video workshops and a few brief online plenary presentations.
  • What should I bring to the conference?
    · An open mind · A notebook and writing utensil · A sweater/shawl in case you find the rooms chilly

  • Are tickets refundable?
    No, all ticket sales are final. Tickets are non-refundable.
  • What is the conference program and schedule?

  • I am trying to purchase a conference registration from another country however international regulations don’t allow the completion of purchase through PayPal. How can I pay, and register given these circumstances?
    If this kind of message appears on PayPal, please email cftc@familytherapy.org and the staff will help to arrange a wire transfer, then the conference ticket will be emailed to you after confirmation that the funds have been received
  • Are there opportunities to receive a reduced conference registration fee?
    Yes. Those who register early for the conference will receive $140.00 off the total cost of the whole conference, i.e., $550 rather than $690. This reduced Early Bird price will remain active for a limited amount of time. Those who plan to only attend the 2-day main conference, will pay $490.00 and workshop-only participants will pay $400.00. Another economic solution for the conference is to volunteer. The first 20 people offering to dedicate four, eight-hour days of volunteer time at the conference will receive a complimentary registration with the chance to attend the plenary presentations and at least two of the workshop presentations.
  • Are professional credits available at the conference?
    Yes. Continuing education credits may be obtained by attending the conference. Certificates of Attendance will be available at the registration desks following the completion of the workshops on August 17, 2023, and upon completion of the conference on August 19, 2023.
  • Is there an opportunity to sponsor a student?
    Yes. If you are interested in gifting a student a conference registration package, please contact cftc@familytherapy.org.
  • When and where do we register on the actual days of the conference?
    Conference registrants are welcome to collect their registration packages starting at 7:30 am at registration desks on the seventh floor of the MacKimmie Tower at the University of Calgary (2500 University Dr. NW Calgary) on August 16 and 17 and at the Best Western Village Park Inn (1804 Crowchild Trail) on August 18 and 19. Signage will direct you to the registration desks at both locations.
